Armchair Tavit Gueridon

A beautiful collectible piece made by French Artist Florence Louisy in collab with Gallery Aequõ in Mumbai India. Made by artisans in Maharashtra.

A close and intimate relationship with a material, nurtured throughout many years, becomes a singular tale of trust between maker and matter. Tavit, a collection of four bronze and aluminium pieces, is the result of such a journey among metal workshops in Mumbai, which challenges the limits and capabilities of metal casting. We are showing the aluminium chair in our atelier.

The astonishing sensibility within the workmanship is visible in these objects’ contrasted textures, between their patina exteriors and warm reflective interiors.

Florence Louisy is the creative director of Aequõ. Working between Mumbai and Paris, she graduated from the Netherlands-based Design Academy Eindhoven, where she studied under Ilse Crawford and Formafantasma's values. With a strong sensitivity for craft and a fascination for cultural exploration, she encountered design as a method to achieve masterpieces: materials, techniques, and the hands joining them are the three elements required to make meaningful objects. This vision was further developed while she journeyed to São Paulo to work beside the Campana brothers. Today, she continues her path in the field of collectible design where furniture is sculpture, and materiality is history.
