Plona Folding Chair by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli

Designed in 1970 by Giancarlo Piretti, Plona is a folding and stackable armchair. Thanks to its unique design it combines aesthetics, functionality and comfort. The solid tubular structure is in a polished stainless aluminum alloy, with hinges in die-cast light alloy.
The bare body has a beautiful black leather. This streamlined and innovative design, make Plona the perfect chair for any context.

Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna in 1940. After studying Fine Arts at the academy in Bologna, he started working as an interior designer for Anonima Castelli, designing products both for home and office use, as well as for the community.
Over the years, he was awarded the “Compasso d’Oro ADI” twice, which is the most important design award since 1954. He won it for the Vertebra seating system - designed together with Emilio Ambasz - and for the Piretti collection, launched in 1988.
