Designed in 1955 by Barba Corsini for the iconic La Pedrera building in Barcelona, the PD2 Floor Lamp is a true masterpiece of mid-century modern design. Inspired by Antoni Gaudí’s architectural forms, the lamp’s cylindrical shape and perforated shade echo the sculptural chimneys and vaulted ceilings of La Pedrera’s attic spaces.
With its bold simplicity and architectural precision, the PD2 embodies Corsini’s design philosophy timeless, functional, and effortlessly expressive. Originally created as part of Corsini’s interior redesign for La Pedrera’s 13 attic apartments, the lamp became an integral element of the building’s modernist transformation.
In 1991, when the attic was restored to Gaudí’s original vision, most of Corsini’s interiors were dismantled and discarded. It was then that architect and gallerist Joaquim Ruiz Millet discovered and rescued the PD2 Floor Lamp, sparking a collaboration with Corsini to revive and preserve his work.
