Jules Wabbes Midcentury Corner Desk
   €15.900,00

This Jules Wabbes Free-Standing Corner Desk was designed for Mobilier Universal.

Crafted by renowned Belgian designer Jules Wabbes, this desk is a true testament to his exceptional talent, perfectly merging aesthetics and functionality. Its creation can be traced back to the early 1960s and bears the unmistakable mark of Mobilier Universal, visible on both the inside of one drawer and the handles. The desk boasts a striking composition with a light wood drawer unit, complemented by a black lacquered metal base. The wengé tabletop, with its black lacquered finish, harmonizes beautifully with the black coated steel desk base.

Notably, this desk was once used by two CEOs of a global fashion brand based in Amsterdam. The Charles & Ray Eames chair is a golden match with the desk.

Jules Wabbes creations exude an aristocratic yet unassuming charm, marked by a sensual manipulation of materials and a precise, almost architectural structure. Wabbes cultivated a distinct aesthetic, distinct from the whimsical and dynamic styles prevalent in the Postwar era. Inspired by American designers like Edward Wormley, Wabbes opted for solid wood in his furniture construction, imbuing his designs with not just opulence but also an integrity, timelessness, and sophistication that are inherently honest.
