Interior Edit: Rugs By Giancarlo Valle

A story told in colour and form

With this collection for Nordic Knots, Giancarlo Valle translates personal memory into tactile design. These rugs are not just objects, but expressions. Sketches brought to life through texture, colour, and craftsmanship.

Each piece reflects a journey. From childhood in Latin America to contemporary interiors today.

A language of sketches

For Valle, drawing has always been a way of thinking. A way of understanding the world.

This collection continues that process. Shapes appear almost spontaneous, like lines on paper, yet carefully composed into bold and harmonious designs.

Each rug becomes a visual language. One that speaks through colour, rhythm, and form.

The collection is deeply rooted in Valle’s early memories of Guatemala City, where hand painted furniture filled his family home. These impressions return here in the form of ornate yet organic motifs.

At the same time, Nordic influences bring balance. Folk traditions, storytelling, and a shared emotional connection to colour create a dialogue between cultures.

The result feels both expressive and grounded.

This collection brings together two worlds. Latin American symbolism and Nordic folk art. Bold colour palettes meet earthy tones. Organic shapes meet structured compositions.

It is this contrast that gives the rugs their unique character. Familiar, yet unexpected.

Each design tells its own story

"Loops" A flowing composition with a soft rhythm, bringing movement into a space
"Big Buds" Bold and expressive, with strong shapes and rich colour
"All Hands" Subtle and layered, offering a more understated presence

Softness with presence

Crafted from exceptionally soft New Zealand wool, each piece offers both comfort and durability. The tactile quality enhances the visual richness, making the rugs feel as inviting as they look.

They are designed to be lived with. To soften a space while still making a statement.

Set in history

The collection was captured inside Ol Anders Hälsingegård, a 16th century farmhouse in Sweden. Surrounded by painted walls, wooden floors, and centuries of craftsmanship, the rugs find a natural home.

Here, past and present merge effortlessly.

This collection is about more than decoration. It is about identity, memory, and creativity. About shaping a space that feels personal and alive.
