Bob Dylan Portrait

Iconic monochrome portrait of an icon captured in New York in 1965 by photographer Jerry Schatzberg, this portrait shows Bob Dylan at just 24 years old, at a defining moment in his career. With his face partly hidden behind his hand and a cigarette resting between his lips, the image feels both intimate and elusive. 

This photograph was taken during a particularly important transitional period in his career: late 1965, shortly after Highway 61 Revisited, when Dylan had fully evolved from a folk icon into a more electric, rock-oriented artist. That same year, Schatzberg created several now-iconic studio portraits of Dylan in New York.
