IDA Chair by Mariekke Jansen / Recycled Wool Felt
IDA Chair by Mariekke Jansen / Recycled Wool Felt
Lounge chair designed with the folding-method by Dutch artist Mariekke Jansen.
The frameless lounge chair made entirely from Dutch wool, designed to become a future classic. The IDA Chair is built without foam or inner structure. Layers of wool are folded into shape, creating natural support and long lasting comfort. The material adapts to your body, retains its form over time and offers a firm yet responsive seat. Each piece is produced in Europe with great attention to simplicity, tactility and longevity. The recycled wool felt is available in 11 colours, drop us a line if you would like to recieve a sample swatch.
Each year, 1.5 million kilos of Dutch wool are discarded simply because they’re considered inconvenient. This project turns that overlooked material into furniture that embraces wool’s natural strength, breathability, and longevity—designed without foam, glue, or synthetics. Sustainable not as a claim, but as a consequence of material-led design.
Mariekke Jansen is a Dutch designer whose work bridges curation and creation. Trained at the HKU School of Arts and founder of Mariekke Vintage, she developed a connoisseur’s eye for form, history, and material. Her move from dealing in design classics to designing her own reflects a pursuit of individuality and the belief that objects should carry both cultural weight and function.
With the IDA Lounge Chair, Jansen introduces her signature vision: refined, sculptural furniture that is both timeless and personal.
