Little Petra By Viggo Boesen 1938
Little Petra By Viggo Boesen 1938
Originally introduced in 1938, the Little Petra lounge chair by Viggo Boesen quickly became a celebrated piece within the emerging Danish Funkis movement. Presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, the design received immediate recognition and later earned awards at exhibitions in both New York and Berlin.
Defined by its soft and embracing silhouette, Little Petra captures the essence of comfort in a compact and inviting form. Low to the ground and open in character, the chair encourages relaxed and informal seating positions, making it ideal for intimate and cosy interiors.
Despite its sculptural appearance, the design remains surprisingly petite, allowing it to fit naturally into a wide range of spaces and environments. Its organic curves and welcoming proportions reflect Boesen’s distinctive interpretation of Scandinavian modernism, where comfort and atmosphere play a central role.
The frame is crafted from solid beech and plywood, layered with HR foam and polyester wadding for exceptional softness and support. Turned and CNC milled wooden legs add a refined and carefully balanced finish. Upholstery options include a range of tactile fabrics and luxurious sheepskin finishes, each enhancing the chair’s warm and inviting character.
Available with oiled oak or oiled walnut legs, Little Petra combines craftsmanship, material richness, and timeless design into a lounge chair that feels both iconic and deeply personal. A true expression of Danish design heritage, created for moments of rest, comfort, and quiet living.
