Plia by Giancarlo Piretti with Vienna straw

When it was presented at the Milan Furniture Fair in 1967, this chair caused an immediate sensation. The response was so enthusiastic that visitors reportedly left the stand carrying the display pieces with them. As a result of this unusual compliment, the chairs had to be secured with chains.

With Plia, Giancarlo Piretti redefined the concept of the folding chair through his innovative three disc pivot system. This technical breakthrough, combined with a light and elegant appearance, secured the chair’s place in design history and earned Piretti the nickname Thonet of the 20th century.

This version is finished in Vienna straw with a chrome frame, highlighting the chair’s airy character and refined material contrast. The natural texture of the woven seat and back adds warmth and tactility, while the chrome structure gives the design its unmistakable lightness and modern elegance.
